What
organizations including art museums have changed radically the way they use the web. Based on the online strategies of several art institutions, such as, Tate Online[1], we tweaked existing Plone features and developed new Plone products in order to fulfill specific needs of organizations.
We developed an online platform using Plone that is more content oriented rather than structure oriented. We included live streaming media not only on the front-page but also on semantically relevant pages. Plone is being successfully used as a media online archive. Recent information and activities are historically contextualized with relevant archival material using a newly developed Plone product. Finally, Plone has been extended with a new product that enhances Plone with the possibility to automatically republish content on relevant social networks. The results of our research and development can be deployed by other organizations in areas that might include governmental and educational.
